Nickerson Beach

Nickerson Beach Eastbound

Nickerson Beach is located on Long Island’s South Shore, with Long Beach and Lido Beach to the west and Point Lookout to the east. Nickerson Beach has a ton of activities for the family. It has of course the beach itself, campgrounds, a skate park, dunes, food, lockers and events.

The beach is half a mile long right on the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. If you love Long Island beaches, this is prime real estate right here! You walk from the parking lot down a long wooden boardwalk and the ocean is right before you.

Plus, if the kids get bored with the beach, you have the playgrounds and a place to grab a quick snack.  During the summer  (Memorial Day – Labor Day), park rates apply, so check out the official site for current rates rates.

But with 155 acres, it will sure to keep you all quite busy.

Probably one of the most popular aspects of Nickerson Beach are the cabanas. Every year is a lottery and people scramble to get the best cabanas at Nickerson.  In fact, people search about when to book the cabanas every spring.

Going back to location, what makes it great is that at the end of the day you can zip over to Long Beach or Point Lookout for a bite to eat.   It’s one of those parts of Long Island that makes you feel like you’ve definitively left New York state for a moment.
