Updated October 5, 2026. Nassau County lists a seasonal Nickerson Beach fishing permit for access from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. The published 2026 price is $27 per season.
Before fishing
- Confirm exactly where permit holders may fish and where to park after normal beach hours.
- Carry the county permit and any required identification.
- Observe closures, protected-dune boundaries and all posted park instructions.
- Check tides, surf and weather; never fish from a closed or unsafe area.
New York saltwater requirements
Anglers age 16 and older fishing in New York’s Marine and Coastal District must enroll in the free Recreational Marine Fishing Registry when targeting covered marine species. Seasons, size limits and possession limits can change.
